This barn conversion was being totally refurbished. As part of the refurb process all the exterior walls needed to be
insulated internally. As the walls were thick stone devoid of a damp proof membrane, a breathable system was
required to allow any moisture in the walls to pass in and out of the building.
A wood fibre board was chosen as the insulation material, in order to apply this the stone walls needed rendering in
lime to a flat surface, the insulation boards were then fixes using a combination of lime adhesive and mechanical
fixings, the boards were then plastered onto using 2 coats of lime with and embedded mesh.
